Andrew Elvin OBE

Captain, Royal Navy (Ret.)

Andrew Elvin OBE retired from the Royal Navy as a Captain in 2014, after 35 years’ service as a warfare officer, and 30 years as a mine warfare, diving and explosive ordnance disposal deep specialist. Having served 12 years alongside, and embedded with, various US Navy Commands, his final tour was as the Deputy US Mine Warfare Commander in Bahrain, and Captain UK Mine Warfare. During his career, he has amassed a wealth of experience, operating with multi-national commercial, military and industrial organizations from the Americas through Europe, to the Middle and Far East. A veteran of the 1982 Falklands conflict, 1991 Gulf War, and numerous operational tours, US and UK staff positions, RDT&E and doctrine commands.

Since retirement, he has continued to support the global mine warfare community and the International Programs Department of the US Naval War College, with the delivery of operational level training and education to international partners.
