Goals
1. Achieve recognition for leadership and professionalism within the Military Munitions Response Industry
- Participate at the highest levels in government and industry-sponsored workshops, committees & discussion panels that require MEC know-how and experience
- Address personnel safety/quality issues for grid-related and other MEC operations
- Conduct business affairs with the professionalism of a nationally run organization
- Arrange for impact guest speakers at two full membership meetings this year
- Increase visibility with DoD, congressional, media and key agency offices
2. Make membership beneficial from a business standpoint for NAOC members
- Increase the visibility into expanding & emerging munitions response market niches
- Present a platform to introduce key government personnel, offices and agencies for follow-up by individual firms
- Provide a forum for members to interact for mentoring, teaming and/or joint venturing and to market professional skills and services to one another
- Present opportunities to participate in government and industry-sponsored forums
3. Improve overall communications within and outside the Association
- Conduct quarterly board meetings this year; report minutes in a timely fashion
- Update and maintain the NAOC website with the latest information on minutes, committees, meetings and other current events
- Utilize e-mails to communicate activities by officers, board members & committee chairpersons and to obtain member's inputs and recommendations
- Decide the merits & feasibility of a bi-monthly or quarterly Association newsletter or electronic magazine (eZine); if decided, then publish it on time
4. Rejuvenate the committees into a functional & positive force for the Association
- Reassess the need for each committee & establish general committee goals
- Staff each committee with a dedicated chairperson and appropriate staff
- Require chairpersons to submit a yearly plan/budget & quarterly reports
5. Maintain fiscal soundness for the Association
- Continue the established accounting practices
- Determine the amount and structure for dues in calendar year 2002
- Find ways to increase membership above the 30 members in good standing
- Determine other ways to raise additional funds, e.g. website corporate sponsorship
6. Interact with key government agencies for the betterment of NAOC
- Continue/increase partnering with USAESCH; focus initially on grid issues
- Pursue participation on the Military Munitions Dialogue Board
- Seek a broader-scope meeting with USAESCH & key USACE Districts
- Pursue partnering with other services/agencies (e.g. Navy, Air Force & EPA)
7. Expand membership by at least 20% from 30 in good standing to 36 members
- Make necessary effort to change suspended members to members in good standing
- Support Membership Committee by referrals of potential members
- Make it beneficial from a business standpoint to be an NAOC member
8. Generate a plan to establish a government/congressional champion(s) for the Military Munitions Response Industry
- Task the Government Affairs Committee to identify potential candidates
- Begin working with government/congressional candidates who could help NAOC
